Jayhusker Antique Auto Club was formed on a hot summer day in 1954 when three men, Wayne Baker, Roy Lewis and Max Logan, sat sharing their antique car stories at Wayne Baker’s Auto Garage in Marysville, Kansas. Most of the members at that time were from the Marysville area; however they knew a number of collectors in Beatrice that might like to join. On July 30, 1959 everyone gathered at Chautauqua Park in Beatrice with their cars and a basket lunch. It was at this meeting the name, representing both states Kansas and Nebraska, Jay-husker, was adopted.  The first officers were: Wayne Baker, President: Don Fletcher, Vice President; and Milton Kamme, Secretary-Treasurer. The club consisted of eight men. Some of the early members were: George Fletcher and his four sons, Don, Bob, Arnold and Jerry, Norman Stevens, Don Fitzwater, Heye Sanderfeld and son Robert, Melvin Evers, Howard Funk and Alvin Snyder. The club grew until it reached its peak in 1980 at forty-eight members.

Today the club is better known for their antique engines. They are eager to explain and teach how important the engines were in everyday life. These engines are meticulously cared for and run for hours. This is your chance to see them in action.
